The Spectrum of Forests - From Old-Growth Redwoods to Sustainable Harvests

Redwood Empire Sawmill and Howlett Ranch

Howlett Ranch spans 1,400 acres in a remote region of northwest Sonoma County and contains one of the county’s last remaining stands of privately held, old-growth redwood forest. Join us for a visit to this jewel that Sonoma Land Trust and our partners are working to protect. We’ll start the day with a visit to Redwood Empire Sawmill to learn about locally-produced wood products. From there, on our way to Howlett Ranch, we’ll drive through Buckeye Forest (formerly known as Preservation Ranch), an 18,000-acre protected and managed forest.

Transportation and lunch provided.
